Supplements

We have great supplements to meet the needs of middle-aged and senior consumers who want to feel better. There are some basic items which help alleviate "silent inflammation" which underlies many of the problems of these age groups. Here are some things that should be on everyone's countertop.

Vitamin D

Vitamin D is normally obtained from the diet or produced by the skin from the ultraviolet energy of the sun.  However, it is not abundant in food.  As more people avoid sun exposure, Vitamin D supplementation becomes even more necessary to ensure that your body receives an adequate supply. Vitamin D helps maintain strong bones, supports dental health and prevents the flu. Studies show that 1000 units per day is a very effective way to prevent flu, as effective as the flu shot.

Coenzyme Q-10

CoQ10 is a vitamin-like compound that is produced naturally in the human body and is also found in most living organisms. It is also called ubiquinone, a combination of quinone, a type of
coenzyme, and ubiquitous, meaning it exists everywhere in the human body. CoQ10 plays an important role in your body’s energy production and is an essential component of the mitochondria, where it helps to metabolize fats and carbohydrates and maintain cell membrane flexibility. CoQ10 is also involved in the
production of several key enzymes that are used to create ATP—a primary energy source that is used in the energy transfer between mitochondria and cells. Without CoQ10, you would not be able to function.

CoQ10 is also an effective antioxidant that may beneficially affect the aging process. As we age, our body’s production of CoQ10 declines by as much as 80 percent. Because it is so important to energy production, and therefore life, researchers believe that this decline may be a factor in the effects of aging on the human body. Clinical trials on both animal and human subjects have revealed a marked decrease in CoQ10 levels when health is a concern. As a free radical scavenger, CoQ10 inhibits lipid peroxidation – a normal aspect of the aging process that is implicated in age-related health, hypertension ans cardiovascular disease. Studies conducted in the last fifteen years suggest CoQ10 is important for maintaining healthy intracellular activity.

Resveratrol

Resveratrol is a polyphenol naturally found in the skin of red grapes, certain berries, and other plants.  Scientific studies have shown that Resveratrol supports healthy cardiovascular function through various mechanisms.  Resveratrol, especially when combined with other polyphenols, is known for its anti-aging effects, as well as for its ability to support a healthy inflammatory response. Resveratrol is considered by many as the fountain of youth.

Omega 3 (fish oil)

The Natural Fish Oil Concentrate used in this softgel is molecularly distilled and manufactured under strict quality control standards.  It is tested to be free of potentially harmful levels of contaminants (i.e. mercury, heavy metals, PCB's, dioxins, and other contaminants).
Those who experience nausea or reflux from other fish oils should find this enteric coated, odor controlled softgel easier to digest.
The Fish Oil Concentrate is primarily derived from sardines, anchovies and mackerel.
From the FDA's website: "Consumption of omega-3 fatty acids may reduce the risk of coronary heart disease. FDA evaluated the data and determined that, although there is scientific evidence supporting the claim, the evidence is not conclusive.
